WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DOES INTUITION PLAY?

Intuition is a variety band.  We play a mix of just about every mainstream genre of music including some of today's current hits, classic party favorites, light jazz, Latin, selections from the big band era, Motown, 70’s disco & funk, 80’s, 90’s, classic country and new country.  When requested, we also play some ethnic favorites.  Most of the events we play include guests ranging in age from 1 to 100 years young so we do our best to offer something for guests of all ages.

 

WHAT KIND OF EVENTS DOES INTUITION PLAY?

Intuition plays all types of events including weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, anniversary parties, communion parties, Bar / Bat Mitzvahs, lawn fetes, summer festivals, winter festivals, Holiday parties, New Year's Eve parties, and even an occasional divorce party.  

 

WHAT KIND OF EQUIPMENT DO YOU PROVIDE?  DO WE HAVE TO PROVIDE ANYTHING?

Intuition brings a full PA and stage monitor system, lighting system, personal instruments, personal amplification equipment and all other related equipment.  You do not have to provide anything.  If there is an extraordinary circumstance, it will be discussed in advance and the details included in the contract.

 

WILL YOUR EQUIPMENT BE SETUP BEFORE OUR GUESTS ARRRIVE?

In most cases, the larger, bulkier equipment (eg. PA and stage monitors, lights and drums) will be inloaded, setup and tested long before your guests arrive.  The smaller equipment, such as personal instruments and related equipment, will typically arrive 60 to 90 minutes prior to our start time.  If there is a situation which requires all gear to be setup early, please bring it to our attention.  Also, please keep in mind that there are times an early setup may not be possible such as when the banquet facility has an event immediately prior to your event.   

 

WHAT TYPE OF ATTIRE DOES INTUITION WEAR?

Intuition dresses appropriately for the event.  For an upscale event such as wedding, Intuition typically wears formal attire.  For casual events such as picnics and summer festivals, Intuition will wear something less formal such as khakis with a collared shirt.

 

IS INTUITION WILLING TO TRAVEL OUTSIDE OF THE BUFFALO, NY AREA?

Intuition works primarily in the Buffalo, NY area but we are willing to travel under the right circumstances.  Some areas we've played outside of our immediate area include Albany, Binghamton, Jamestown, Long Island, New York City, Olean, Plattsburgh, Rochester, Syracuse and numerous out-of-state locations in Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania.  We've also worked many times in Canada including Brantford, Hamilton, Mississagua, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls and Toronto.

 

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE?

Intuition offers an extremely competitive rate which is less than many mobile DJ services.  Please visit our contact page to tell us about your event so we can provide you with a quote.

 

WILL WE RECEIVE A SIGNED CONTRACT IF WE RETAIN INTUITION'S SERVICES?

All engagements are confirmed with a signed contract.

 

ARE WE EXPECTED TO TIP INTUITION AT THE CONCLUSION OF OUR EVENT?

Here in the Western New York area, tipping the band or DJ is neither expected nor customary. Yes, it does happen on occasion, and we are very grateful when it does, but the fee specified in our contract is considered payment in full.

 

ARE WE EXPECTED TO INCLUDE THE MEMBERS OF INTUITION IN OUR DINNER COUNT?

If it is a standard, local event up to four hours in duration, it is not necessary to include the band in your dinner count.  If it is anything other than a standard, local event, the issue will be discussed prior to signing the contract and the details will be included in the contract.

 

IS INTUITION A UNION BAND?

We are long-time members in good standing with the American Federation of Musicians (AFM), Local 92 - Buffalo Musician's Association.

 

WILL INTUITION HANDLE THE INTRODUCTIONS AT OUR WEDDING?

Sure!  We will be happy to handle the introductions if you would like us to do so.

 

MAY WE USE A MICRPOHNE FOR SPEECHES, THE INVOCATION, ETC.?

Intuition will make a wireless microphone available for speeches, toasts, blessings, etc.  Please let us know in advance if you will need to use a microphone.

 

DO YOU PLAY MUSIC ON YOUR BREAKS?

Intuition will play pre-recorded music on our breaks and the music will be appropriate for the event.  We will only play "clean" versions of songs.

 

IS INTUITION AVAILABLE FOR AN EXTENDED COCKTAIL PERIOD?

Yes.  Intuition is available for an extended cocktail period and/or for dinner music.

 

IS PRE-RECORDED MUSIC AVAIALBLE FOR AN EXTENDED COCKTAIL PERIOD?

Yes.  Intuition can provide DJ services for an extended cocktail period and/or for dinner music.

 

OUR WEDDING CEREMONY WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE RECEPTION HALL.  CAN YOU PROVIDE MUSIC AND/OR SOUND REINFORCEMENT FOR THE CEREMONY?

Yes, we can provide sound reinforcement, pre-recorded music or live music (eg. keyboards and our vocalist Diane).

 

WE LIKE THE SOUND OF A HORN SECTION.  IS IT POSSIBLE FOR INTUTION TO ADD A HORN SECTION FOR OUR EVENT?

Intuition frequently works with some of the best horn players in town.  As long as we have adequate advance notice, we should be able to add a horn section.  

 

OUR EVENT IS GOING TO BE AT A LOCAL BANQUET FACILITY.  WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO IN TERMS OF COORDINATING THINGS BETWEEN THE BANQUET FACILITY AND THE ENTERTAINMENT?

When the banquet manager inquires about entertainment for your event, simply advise him/her that you have booked Intuition for your event.  Typically, that's all you'll need to do.  Most facilities have a predetermined area for the band with adequate staging and power sources.  If there are any questions, we would be happy to speak directly to the banquet manager.

 

OUR EVENT IS GOING TO BE OUTSIDE AT A LOCAL PARK.  IS THERE ANYTHING SPECIAL WE NEED TO DO?

There can be some complications when planning an outside event or an event at an unusual location but Intuition does our best to make planning the entertainment as simple as possible.  Our requirements will be discussed in detail prior to entering into a contract and those details will be included in the contract, but generally our requirements are: 

  • A clean, level, solid performing area must be provided.  Acceptable surfaces include concrete, wooden staging, carpeted staging and the like.  Unacceptable surfaces include grass, sand, gravel, loose earth, mud and the like.  Elevated staging is preferred in the event of inclement weather.
  • The performance area must be large enough to accommodate four musicians, PA and stage monitors, musical instruments, personal amplification equipment and lighting.  An area approximately 10' X 10' is the minimum area required.
  • All musicians and all equipment must be under cover.  Side cover must also be available in the event of inclement weather.  
  • Electrical service consisting of at least two dedicated 15 amp circuits must be available within 10 feet of the performing area.  
  • The purchaser/buyer will be responsible for ensuring the event and the performance are not in violation of any local ordinance and securing any and all permits, reservations, etc. which may be necessary to conduct the event.
